Since 1992, the Wichita Thunder have been entertaining hockey fans in the area, providing an exciting on-ice product to enjoy at the Intrust Bank Arena. Currently, the team competes in the ECHL, and acts as an affiliate for both the NHL's Ottawa Senators, and AHL's Binghamton Senators, and we're proud to say that the owner of the team that brings us so many thrills is none other than Brandon Steven.

After purchasing the team with his brothers in 2011, Steven added yet another successful enterprise to his portfolio to go along with the many different car dealerships he owns and operates throughout the area. Under his patronage, the Thunder have been both regular season and conference champions, and always field a competitive team that matches the attributes Steven exudes oh so well: determination, hard work, while being great citizens in the community.

Throughout the years, the Thunder have seen its share of great players pass through, including the likes of former NHL players like Ron Handy, Theo Peckham, Randy Boyd, Brent Cullaton, Craig Coxe, Triston Grant, Colin Hemingway, Jay Henderson, Mark Kolesar, Mikhail Kravets, George Maneluk, Chris McAllister, Jim McGeough, Cam Plante, and Tom Roulston, while current NHL goalie Scott Darling and Thunder alum plays for the Chicago Blackhawks. There have also been many fan favorites along the way, and that tradition will continue for a long time as Steven's ownership will produce many more dynamic memories and great hockey moments in the future.

Along with providing us with exciting on-ice competition in a family-friendly atmosphere, the Thunder also give back to the community in many ways. Whether it is promotions like Pucks for Bucks that benefit the Child Advocacy Center, visiting community centers, hospitals, and schools, the team is always happy to give back and be a positive force in Wichita. That, of course has a lot to do with Brandon Steven and his mission to provide for his community.

Steven has a strong sense of philanthropy and giving back to many causes. He's received many different accolades and awards for his work in the community through fundraising and volunteering his time, including National Man of the Year from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, breaking the national record for contributions to the cause.

Not only that, but Steven has a strong background in sports, as the co-owner of Genesis Health Clubs with his brother Rodney, Brandon is committed to helping us all lead healthy and balanced lives through fitness, movement, and activities. He's been able to build a strong competitive drive that motivates him in life, and has led to many successes in business, and he hopes that motivation continues to fuel the Wichita Thunder, and provide the city with a hockey team it can always be proud of and enjoy.

If you live in the Wichita area, or are visiting and the Thunder are in town, we encourage you to go check them out. You'll find a fun environment and we're certain you'll have a good time enjoying a great game!

Go Thunder!
