Attitude
The greatest discovery of any generation is that a human can alter his life by altering his attitude!!
Sarcasm is a way for a loser to keep a winner down.
Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.
Whatever you believe with enough emotion becomes your reality.
We believe we can do it - that's our EDGE!
Put your heart and soul into it - leave it all out on the court.
It's tempting to whine about gas prices, employee layoffs, and the economy in general. In reality, such responses undermine your credibility and strength as a leader. Let's take a look at some responses to adversity that could be avoided.
The "it's not fair" cry
It may be comforting to wallow in self-pity, but whining about the unfairness of life is a waste of time. If at this stage in life, you still harbor expectations of fairness, then you must have led a charmed existence. Welcome to the real world! Failing to deal with reality while lamenting about what you wish could be only sets a poor example.
Fault finding
While knowing who is at fault in a crisis may be useful for coaching that individual to avoid future mistakes, finger-pointing distracts from the task of dealing with the problem. It will drive your staff to defend its actions rather than focus on solutions, which is a waste of vital energy.
The cover-up
Fear of the consequences of a mistake may tempt you to try to hide it, especially if you are involved in any way. Burying a problem or ignoring it will most likely make it worse.
The best approach is to understand that despite your best efforts, negative things will happen; when they do, you need an effective response. An agile response will be speedy and action-oriented and should rally support from your employees for what may involve significant change. We will address these changes, and chart a course to success. |
The only true way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
It is not easy to keep on, keeping on.
It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey
that matters, in the end.
--
American author Ursula K. LeGuin
The easiest way to get tired is to do nothing.
Thousands of geniuses live and die every year undiscovered-either
by themselves or by others.
-- Mark Twain
Promise yourself to spend so much time improving yourself
that you have no time left to criticize others.

The Creed
for Optimists
You can not discover new oceans unless you have the courage
to leave the shore.
Nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without that collective
spark of enthusiasm.
You're handed life on a silver platter, but it's
yours to tarnish or serve from.
Aim high for the moon, for even if you miss, you will be among
the stars.
I am neither against or for apathy!
The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the
man who can't read them.
-- Mark Twain
There are two kinds old people-those that tell all the reasons
why things can't be done and those who go out and do it. Which
are you?
You can not become what you want to be by remaining what you are.
Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by
those who hustle.
-- Abraham Lincoln.
The pleasure you get from your life is equal to the attitude you
put into it.
Life does not require us to be the biggest or the best, it asks
only that we try.
The difference between a successful person and
others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but
rather in a lack of will.
Pride is a personal commitment. It is an attitude, which separates
excellence from mediocrity.
Enthusiasm: You can do anything if you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm
is the catalyst that makes your hopes rise to the stars. Enthusiasm
is the sparkle in your eyes, it is the swing in your gait, the
grip of your hand, the irresistible urge of your will and your
energy to execute your ideas. Enthusiasts are fighters. They have
fortitude. They have staying qualities. Enthusiasm is at the bottom
of all progress! With it there is accomplishment. Without it there
are only alibis.
Delay is the antidote for anger.
The Greatest joy to life? Life itself.
I don't have to attend every argument I'm invited to.
Life is 10% of what happens to you, and 90% of how you respond
to it.
He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything
else.
Happiness is a readjusted mental attitude.
Select self respect, not self pity.
Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but how we
react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but by the
attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction
of positive thoughts, events, and a outcomes.
Always use the word impossible
with the greatest caution.
No attitude, just gratitude.
The longer
I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude,
to me, is more important than facts. It is more
important than the past, than education , than money, than circumstances,
than failures, than successes, than what other people think or
say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or
skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a
home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding
the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our
past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a
certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we
can do is play on the one thing we have, and that is our attitude… I
am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I
react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our
Attitudes.”

Tolerance: the
ability to be understanding of those with whom you differ is
a sign of sophistication.

Attitudes

CAN’T |
CAN |
We’ve
never done it before
|
We
have the opportunity to be first |
It’s
too complicated |
Let’s
look at it from a different angle |
We
don’t have the resources |
Necessity
is the Mother of invention |
It
will never work |
We’ll
give it a try |
There’s
not enough time |
We’ll
re-evaluate some priorities |
We
already tried it |
We
learned from the experience |
There’s
no way it’ll work |
We
can make it work |
It’s
a waste of time |
The
investment will be worth it |
We’ll
cannibalize our own sales
|
We’ll
do it before they do |
We
don’t have expertise |
Let’s
network with those who do |
We
can’t compete |
We’ll
get a jump on the competition |
Our
vendors won’t go for it |
Let’s
show them the opportunities |
It’s
good enough |
There’s
always room for improvement |
We
don’t have enough money |
Maybe
there’s something we can cut |
We’re
understaffed
|
We’re
a lean, mean machine! |
We
don’t have enough room |
Temporary
space may be an option |
It
will never fly |
We’ll
never know until we try |
We
don’t have the equipment |
Maybe
we can sub it out |
It’s
not going to be any better
|
We’ll
try it one more time |
It
can’t be done |
It’ll
be a challenge |
No
one communicates |
Let’s
open the channels |
Isn’t
it time to go home? |
Days
go so quickly around here! |
I
don’t have any ideas |
I’ll
come up with some alternatives |
Let
somebody else deal with it |
I’m
ready to learn something new |
We’re
always changing direction
|
We’re
in touch with our customers |
It’s
too radical a change |
Let’s
take a chance |
It
takes too long for approval |
We’ll
walk it through the system |
Our
customers won’t buy it |
We’ll
do better at educating them |
Our
company is the wrong size |
We’re
perfect for this project |
It
doesn’t fit us |
We
should look at it |
It’s
contrary to policy |
ANYTHING’S
POSSIBLE |
It’s
not my job |
I’ll
be glad to take the responsibility |
I
CAN’T |
I
CAN! |
